Our Honest Grown Folks Review â Christy & James Style
If you're thinking about booking a Virgin Voyages cruise, you're probably wondering: Is it really worth the hype? Listen, weâve been cruising for a minute, and this one had our curiosity on HIGH. So we hopped aboard to see if it lived up to the buzz. đ
Letâs just say⌠some things slayed, some things swayed, and a few things straight up didnât deliver. But we're spilling all the tea so YOU can cruise smarter.
⨠What Slayed: The Parts Weâre Still Talking About
1. The Vibe? Grown & Sexy
This ship is giving adults only luxury with a modern twist. No screaming kids. No stiff, formal dinners. Just chill, curated vibes with spaces that make you feel something. Think rooftop lounge meets floating boutique hotel.
2. That Food Tho đ˝ď¸
Yâall. NO buffets. Instead? Unique restaurants with elevated menus that didnât require a single upcharge. Gunbae had us doing Korean BBQ karaoke, and Pink Agave was so good we almost tried to book a second night. đđžđđžđđž
3. Entertainment That Wasnât Corny đđž
Forget cheesy cruise shows. Virginâs performances felt like edgy, immersive theater, unpredictable and grown. Duel Reality was Cirque du Soleil meets street battle energy, and we were HERE for it.
4. Tech That Actually Works
From wristbands that open your cabin to mood lighting you can change with a tablet, Virgin nailed the smart tech without it being overwhelming. Even the app (mostly) behaved. đđž
5. Scarlet Night Was⌠A Lot (In the Best Way) đĽ
We didnât know what to expect, but Scarlet Night was that girl. Yes, it was wild. Yes, it was red from head to toe. Yes, it felt like we stepped into a grown folks fairytale on a yacht.
Between the pop-up performances, the red outfits everywhere, the dance party by the pool, and the impromptu conga line, we were LIVING. It wasnât your typical cruise party, it was quirky, bold, and just the right amount of extra.
That said, if youâre more low-key or not into theme nights, it might feel like a lot coming at you. But if you lean in and go with it? Youâll have a blast.
Pro tip: Pack something red and be ready to dance like nobodyâs watching⌠even though they definitely are. đ
đŹ What Didnât Hit Like It Shouldâve
1. Cabin Layout = Confusing
Some of the rooms tried to be too clever, beds that turn into couches, limited drawers, and weird bathroom setups. Cute in theory⌠kinda awkward in reality. Not a dealbreaker, but not âwowâ either.
2. Limited Pool Space đŤ
You donât really swim on this ship. The main pool was giving oversized bathtub with too many folks in it. We made it work, but if pool days are your thing, this might disappoint.
đŻ So, Is Virgin Voyages Worth It?
If you're a grown traveler who loves elevated experiences, flexibility, and a vibe that doesnât feel cookie-cutter, YES. This cruise is doing things differently, and honestly, we respect that.
BUTâŚ
If youâre looking for traditional cruise routines, big pool decks, or non-stop announcements and games, this might feel too chill or too offbeat.
For us? It was 85% fabulous, 15% âeh,â and 100% memorable.
đĄ Real Talk from Christy & James
We love travel that makes you feel seen. Virgin Voyages isnât trying to be for everybody, and thatâs kind of what makes it special. Itâs for the grown folks who want to vibe, connect, eat WELL, and skip the cheesy cruise clichĂŠs.
