Real Talk From Grown Folks Who Cruise for the Experience, Not Just the Hype
Let’s be real for a minute, everybody loves a cruise until someone dares to say the truth. Well, buckle up because we're Christy & James, and today, we’re spilling the tea on some unpopular cruise opinions that might make you clutch your pearls, or laugh out loud because deep down, you know we’re right. 😏
We don’t cruise just to say we did it, we do it for the full experience. And after sailing on plenty of ships, we’ve got thoughts. These are the things that everyone lowkey talks about in their cabin… but we’re saying them out loud.
⚓ 1. Every Cruise Line Ain’t For Everybody
We said what we said. Some lines are party central, some are bougie and quiet, some are all about the family vibes, and some are just a hot mess. 🙃
That “all-you-can-eat buffet and beach day” cruise may be cute for the first-timers, but if you’re grown grown and looking for vibes, comfort, and class, you need to know what fits YOU.
Our tip? Don’t just book the cheapest thing you find. Ask yourself:
👑 Do I want a premium experience?
🎉 Do I want turn up energy or slow it down luxury?
🤝 Do I care more about excursions or the ship itself?
🍽️ 2. The Buffet Isn’t That Good
We know, don’t cancel us. But let’s be honest… not all buffet food is giving what it’s supposed to give.
The real gems? Specialty dining and private chef experiences. Those little date night moments where the food is chef’s kiss, the wine is flowing, and the vibes are everything. THAT’S the kind of cruise memory you’ll be talking about for years.
🛳️ 3. Interior Cabins Are For Naps, Not Vibes
Yes, they’re cheaper. But after your 4th cruise, you start realizing that waking up to ocean views? GAME. CHANGER.
We’re not saying go full on balcony suite every time (although 😍), but if you’re celebrating something special, birthday, anniversary, your grown up peace, why not treat yourself to something that feels like a luxury escape?
🌴 4. Port Days Can Be… Overrated
We know, we know. Port days are the thing. But some ports? They’re just glorified shopping centers with overpriced trinkets.
Instead of rushing off the ship every time, try this:
*Sleep in.
*Grab brunch and a mimosa.
*Hit the spa while it’s quiet.
*Lounge by the pool with no lines.
Sometimes the best day of your cruise is the one where you do absolutely nothing.
💃 5. Every Night Doesn’t Have to Be a Turn Up
Yes, theme nights can be fun. Yes, we love a good Scarlet Night or White Party.
But also? It’s okay to skip a night and rest. You don’t need to “do it all.”
We’ve seen people burn themselves out trying to make every moment a party. Baby, this is your vacation, not an unpaid performance. 😆
Real Talk? Do YOU.
We’re not here to say don’t cruise, we’re saying cruise smarter. Cruise in a way that fills you up. Whether that means finding a cruise that speaks to your soul or skipping the crowd pleasers for something more meaningful, we got you.
🚨 We host cruise trips that are curated for grown folks who want connection, culture, and vibes, not chaos. Want in? 👇
