🚢 Cruise Like a Pro: What I Wish Every First-Time Cruiser Knew

Branch Out Travel Blog/Cruises/🚢 Cruise Like a Pro: What I Wish Every First-Time Cruiser Knew

🛏️ 1. Don’t Pick the Wrong Cabin

It’s not just “inside or balcony.” It’s location. Mid-ship cabins = less motion sickness. Low decks = more stable. If you’re under the nightclub or buffet, God bless your sleep. 🙃

When you book with us, we match you to the perfect cabin for your vibe: near the spa, party-adjacent, romance-ready—we got you.

🎒 2. Don’t Overpack (or Bring Banned Items)

Cruise ships give you towels. Don’t waste space. Irons? Banned. Instead, pack:

Wrinkle release spray

A magnetic hook (yep, cruise walls are metal!)

A lanyard for your keycard

And keep your swimsuit and meds in your carry-on. Your suitcase might not reach your room for HOURS.

🤑 3. Budget Beyond the Base Price

Cruises are not all-inclusive. You still need to cover:

Drinks (unless you buy a drink package)

Tips (a daily charge)

WiFi (if you want to be online)

Excursions (and not all are worth it)

When we help plan, we always build this into the budget. No surprises. Just fun.

🍽️ 4. Dining Options Are a Whole Thing

You’ve got options:
✔️ Buffet
✔️ Main dining room
✔️ Specialty restaurants (aka the fancy stuff)

We suggest doing at least one or two specialty nights. Book your dining time early, especially if you want to sit with your crew. (On our hosted cruises, we do all this for you!)

🧭 5. Excursions: Plan or Regret It

We’ve seen folks miss the boat (literally) by booking shady third-party excursions.

When you cruise with us, the excursions are vetted, coordinated, and safe. Think bamboo rafting in Jamaica, flying dress photoshoots in Santorini, or a private catamaran with champagne. We don’t play.

😵‍💫 6. If You’re Prone to Motion Sickness… Prepare!

Start with:

Non-drowsy Dramamine

Ginger chews

Peppermint oil

Sea-Bands

Green apples (yes, really)

Choose cabins mid-ship and avoid heavy alcohol the first day until your body adjusts.

😎 7. Sea Days Are Not Chill… Unless You Plan Ahead

Sea days are crowded. Get up early. Grab your deck chairs. Book your spa services in advance. On our trips, we plan themed events like:

Pajama brunch

Sea day games

Group spa sessions

So you’re not just wandering around like, “What now?”

🍾 8. Choose Your Cruise Energy Wisely

Some ships are loud. Some are family heavy. Some are straight up spring break chaos.

Our hosted cruises? Grown. Relaxed. Elevated.
We build in:

Downtime and excursions

Group dinners and solo moments

Vibes you’ll remember for years
