💡 Not All Add-Ons Are Created Equal

Booking a cruise is one thing. Navigating all the upsells, upgrades, and “must-have” extras? That’s a whole other story.

We’ve been on enough cruises to know what’s worth the splurge and what you can totally skip without a second thought. So if you're planning your first cruise (or your fifth), we're about to help you save money, reduce stress, and maximize your fun.

Because nobody has time for buyer's remorse at sea. 🚢

Worth It: Add-Ons That Give You VIP Vibes

1. Drink Packages (When Done Right)

If you plan on having more than a cocktail or two daily, the drink package can be a money saver. Just make sure it includes what you actually drink some packages are alcohol only, while others include specialty coffees, bottled water, and sodas. 👀

Pro Tip: For non-drinkers, grab the non-alcoholic refreshment package. Unlimited lattes and mocktails? Yes, please.

2. Specialty Dining

Cruise dining is already top-tier, but the specialty restaurants go above and beyond. Think steakhouse, sushi, teppanyaki, or chef’s tasting menus. Perfect for a birthday night or grown-folks dinner date.

Our Fave: Teppanyaki night on Norwegian? Entertainment + delicious food = 100% worth it.

3. Wi-Fi Package (for the right person)

If you work remotely, need to stay in touch with family, or just want to scroll guilt-free, go ahead and grab the internet package. Otherwise, consider going fully off-grid and loving every second of it.

4. Photo Packages

Let’s be honest, you’re not getting dressed up for nothing! Formal night photos, deckside candids, and boarding-day shots? Get the package ahead of time for better pricing, and thank us later when you’re flipping through those memories.

5. Excursions with Local Flavor

Skip the big bus tours and book something more intimate. Catamaran rides, food tastings, historic walking tours, or cultural experiences, these are the stories you’ll talk about for years.

PS: We personally curate unforgettable group excursions. Come join us for the VIP version of island hopping. 🌴

❌ Not Worth It: Save Your Coins On These

1. Cabin Upgrades (Sometimes)

Don’t get pressured into upgrading your room if you plan to be everywhere but your room. Interior cabins are totally fine for short trips. Spend that money on experiences, not square footage.

2. Onboard Shops

Unless it’s something you forgot to pack, cruise shops are not the place for a deal. $12 sunscreen? We’re good. 💸

3. Overpriced Internet for Casual Use

Just checking Facebook? You can wait. Most ports have free Wi-Fi nearby. Take a break and live a little.

4. The "Key" or Priority Boarding Perks (Usually)

Unless you're traveling during peak chaos season, paying extra for early boarding or exclusive lounges often isn’t worth the hype. You're all going to the same destinations, boo.

BONUS: A Few Splurges We Secretly Love

Spa day on a sea day = top-tier relaxation

Room service breakfast = yes to pancakes in pajamas

Couples massage = because grown folks deserve luxury
